January 29, 2001 -- Artifex® today announced that Macromedia, Inc. has integrated Artifex's GhostscriptTM PDF and PostScript interpreter within Macromedia Fireworks 4. The interpreter enables Fireworks users to import EPS files.

"Macromedia Fireworks 4 is the leading solution for easily creating and deploying Web graphics," said Miles Jones, president of Artifex. "By supporting Ghostscript, Fireworks users can include these popular graphics formats for deployment on the Web."

"Artifex's Ghostscript technology was a natural choice for inclusion within Fireworks 4 due to its compatibility with the latest PDF and PostScript specifications, modular design, and cross-platform capabilities," said Diana Smedley, director of product management for Macromedia. "This integration ensures our developers have a complete solution for easily bringing any graphics to the Web."

Ghostscript is a commercially complete, multi-platform, high-performance, independent implementation of Adobe's PDF and PostScript LanguageLevel 3 page description language.
